DAY FOURTEEN

I really struggled to work out which day we are on. It seems like nothing really happened in the last 4 days, although a lot has been done.

I did some research on lumens and lighting… the LED lights are great options. Low Energy… but they should be used to supplement. Not be the only source… so in will come a FLC light, 200 watts is 20k lumens. Currently I am on about half that. So I am multiplying it by 3 effectively. There is research I believe that suggests that light from LEDs is not as penetrating. That arrives Monday…

I the meantime. Whilst no one was home. I requisitioned a load of pea gravel from dad’s path… this was mixed in with the solid I had made. Minus the sand. The sand became to uniform and acted as a plug on the soil. I removed that top layer of sand added the pea gravel and it now drains as quickly as it goes in. In total. I used a 9 litre bag of citrus potting soil with ceramic chips. I’ve probably used the best part of 7 litres of pea gravel. With maybe 1.5 litres of sand. To make up the 17.5 litre capacity. Oh minus 2 litres for the soil it came in…

But yes, it is now draining how it should, the picture below was taken after a couple of hours, barely anything can be seen on the surface. It’s much the same now, more than a day of circulation later. 🙂

The blue fart cushions are the heat pads. I did have one underneath but decided this was pretty pointless and it would be better served slipped in the opposite side to heat the soil. It hovers around 23 degrees Celsius, you can just see the thermometer strip I’ve added on the bottom edge.
